Derrick Hall wants D-backs in National League

PHOENIX – It’s been reported this week that MLB is again considering the idea of realignment by moving a National League team to the American League to make an even 15 teams in each league.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been rumored to be one of the teams that could be asked to switch leagues.

Team president Derrick Hall was asked what would happen if the league tried to move the D-backs to the American League.

“I’d push back. I’m a purist and traditionalist. I love the National League, the strategy and the pitcher having to come to the plate,” said Hall on the Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show on Tuesday.

Hall said he wouldn’t be alone in wanting the team to stay in the NL.

“If we’re asked to, we’ll consider it. We’ll do what’s in the best interest of baseball, however, I have to balance that out with what’s in the best interest of the team and our fans,” said Hall.

“Our fans would probably prefer us parked right here in the NL West.”

Rumors have circulated that the Houston Astros would be the most likely team to change leagues, but it’s nice to know if the Diamondbacks are forced to leave, they won’t go down without a fight.
