The Arizona Diamondbacks called up pitcher Jarrod Parker from Double-A Mobile.
Parker, the team’s top pick in 2007, has been rated the top overall prospect for the D-backs the past three years.
This is Parker’s first season since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2009, and in 26 games has an 11-8 record with a 3.79 ERA and 112 strikeouts.
Over three minor league seasons Parker has recorded a 28-18 record and 3.49 ERA with 324 strikeouts in 70 games.
The 22-year-old right-hander will wear No. 56 in his first Major League stint.
