Inside the Box for
September 24, 2011: Diamondbacks 15, Giants 2

The Good:

The Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t take their foot off the gas after clinching the NL West Friday night. The D-backs pounded the Giants early and often, knocking them right out of the playoffs with the victory.

Ian Kennedy got his 21st win of the season, throwing six innings and only giving up two runs.

It was Ryan Roberts bobble head night; he went two for five, scored two runs and had three RBIs.

Gerardo Parra went two for three, with four RBIs, tying his career high. He also drew one of the team’s thirteen walks, which set the team’s franchise high in a nine inning game.

The crowd of 49,076 people was the third sellout of the year for the D-backs and the largest crowd of the season.

The D-backs 15 runs, tied a season high. They last hit that mark on May 30th against the Marlins.

The Bad:

Due to a micro-burst in Phoenix, the lights went out in Chase Field for 28 minutes. While the symbolism of putting the lights out on the Giants season was nice, the delay caused several thousand fans to leave the game early.

The Funky:

The D-backs had six extra base hits, including five doubles and a triple.
