D-backs’ Hill hits for cycle against Mariners

Jun 19, 2012, 4:10 PM | Updated: 4:46 pm

Arizona Diamondbacks’ second baseman Aaron Hill is on a
tear
— adding a storied baseball milestone to his résumé.

The D-backs’ infielder hit for his first career cycle
in a 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners Monday.

Needing a home run to complete the cycle, Hill took
Mariners
reliever Shawn Kelley deep in the seventh inning with a
solo
shot.

Hill had already singled in the first inning, tripled in
the third and doubled in the fifth, all off Mariners
starter Hector Noesi.

Hill is the first D-backs player to hit for the cycle
since
Kelly Johnson did it against the San Francisco Giants on
July 23, 2010.

He is also the fifth player in franchise history to
accomplish the feat, joining the likes of Stephen Drew,
Greg
Colbrunn and Luis Gonzalez.
