A four-game losing streak is snapped, as the Arizona Diamondbacks outlast the Miami Marlins 3-2 in a pitcher’s duel that went 13 innings in South Beach.

After receiving nine strong innings from right-hander Rubby De La Rosa, the D-backs’ bullpen pitched four shutout innings, with reliever Enrique Burgos earning his first career save as a major league pitcher.

Despite Burgos clutch pitching, however, it could be argued that the night’s hero was D-backs outfielder David Peralta, who went 1-for-2 in his pinch hit role which included driving in the eventual game-winning run in the top of the 13th.

Though offense came at a premium Monday night at Marlins Park, rookie third baseman Yasmany Tomas continued to provide timely hitting, finishing the game 3-for-5 with two RBI, increasing his season average to .329.

Earning their 16th win of the season, we take a look at the D-backs’ win, by the numbers.

9

The nine innings pitched by Rubby De La Rosa versus Miami go down as career-high for the 26-year-old from the Dominican Republic. Having never gone longer than seven innings in one game in his career, De La Rosa was a horse for the D-backs Monday night. Though he’d give up a two-run homer to Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto in the seventh inning, De La Rosa would retire the final nine Marlins batters before exiting the game prior to the 10th inning. Lending further credence to his stellar performance, De La Rosa threw fewer than 10 pitches in five different innings.

11

Right-handed reliever Brad Ziegler was the first pitcher on in relief of De La Rosa, entering the game in the 10th inning. Though he’d only go two innings, Ziegler’s command was on point, striking out three Marlins batters. In 14 career games versus Miami, Ziegler has held the Marlins scoreless in 11 of those games, lowering his ERA vs. the Marlins to 2.84 (4 ER in 12.2 IP).

2.46

Following De La Rosa’s outstanding display over nine innings Monday, D-backs starting pitchers are 10-4 in 21 starts when pitching six innings or more. Posting a 2.46 ERA (39 ER in 142.2 IP), Arizona starters have held opposing hitters to a .215 batting average (112-for-521).

3.71

The road ERA of D-backs starting pitchers in 16 road games. Starters have worked five or more innings in 15 of those contests.

10

Getting the start at shortshop Monday, D-backs infielder Chris Owings has hit safety in 10 of his last 11 games, sporting .375 batting average (18-for-48) with four doubles, one triple, one home run and three RBI. Owings also extended his hitting streak to seven games.

6

D-backs outfielder Ender Inciarte has registered a hit in six of his last eight road games. Over that span, Enciarte is hitting .300 (12-for-40).
