D-backs’ Eric Hinske accepts assignment in Triple-A Reno

Nine days after being designated for assignment to make room for Eric Chavez, veteran infielder Eric Hinske will remain with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 35-year-old Hinske cleared waivers after being DFA’d and has accepted an assignment in Triple-A Reno.

Hinske, who signed a one-year deal with the D-backs in December 2012, batted .173 with one home run and six RBI in 52 appearances this season before his demotion.
