Diamondbacks reinstate A.J. Pollock and Chris Owings from DL

Sep 2, 2014, 9:52 PM | Updated: 9:53 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks are getting healthier by the day, as the team announced Tuesday it had reinstated outfielder A.J. Pollock and infielder Chris Owings from the 15-day disabled list.

The 26-year-old Pollock had appeared in 52 games for the D-backs this season, in which he hit .316 with six home runs and 15 RBI. He landed on the disabled list when he was hit in the right hand with a pitch from the Reds’ Johnny Cueto, and has not played for the D-backs since. The outfielder hit .173 with two doubles, one triple and nine RBI in 15 rehab games with Triple-A Reno and Rookie AZL D-backs.

Owings, a rookie, was the teams’ Opening Day shortstop and one of the pleasant early-season surprises. The 23-year-old hit .277 with 15 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 21 RBI in 72 games before being placed on the DL with a strained left shoulder. He made 13 rehab appearances with Reno and the AZL D-backs, hitting .298 with three RBI, seven runs scored and eight stolen bases.

The moves put the D-back’s active roster at 29.
