The Arizona Diamondbacks mustered four hits on the San Diego Padres and began the Saturday game how their last game ended — struggling to lay wood on pitches.

The result was a 3-0 loss to the Padres tallied to starting D-back pitcher Jeremy Hellickson despite his solid effort.

Arizona starter Jeremy Hellickson went six innings, allowing four hits and an earned run while striking out five. He gave the D-backs a chance and despite Josh Collmenter allowing two more runs out of the bullpen, the offense never found answers.

2

Despite the little offensive production, the D-backs hit into two double plays — one each by Ender Inciarte and Paul Goldschmidt.

5

The number of total bases by Padres infielder Cory Spangenberg, who recorded two doubles and a single. He scored two of San Diego’s three runs.

8

While Padres starting pitcher Robbie Erlin struck out a modest four D-backs in seven innings of work, Arizona couldn’t connect against him, popping out three times and grounding out eight times.

13.1

Spanning Arizona’s 6-3 victory against the Padres on Friday into the Saturday game, the Diamondbacks went 13.1 innings without a hit. A.J. Pollock’s grand slam with an out in the second inning Friday was the lone hit until Inciarte hit a two-out triple in the sixth inning in the second game of the three-game series.

16

Former Diamondback Justin Upton came into the game Saturday hitless in his last 16 at-bats. He ended the streak with an RBI double in the eighth inning that gave the Padres a 2-0 lead.
