An already difficult season for the Phoenix Suns took another turn for the worse Tuesday. After the Suns’ 104-97 loss to the Toronto Raptors they announced T.J Warren had a fracture in his right foot and will have to get surgery.

The news of the break had come down earlier in the day and Warren was seen walking around in a boot after the game.

Warren, the team’s first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of North Carolina State and 14th pick overall, was averaging 11 points and 3.1 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game this season. He started four games, and scored a career-high 29 points in a December loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The second-year pro was third on the team in scoring behind guards Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, both of whom are currently sidelined with injuries.

Entering play Tuesday, the Suns hold the fifth-worst record in the NBA at 14-35. They fired head coach Jeff Hornacek following a 91-78 loss to the Dallas Mavericks Sunday, and will be led for the rest of this season by interim coach Earl Watson.
