Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley leaves game after taking line drive to face

...

In a scary moment during Tuesday night’s Diamondbacks-Rockies game, pitcher Archie Bradley was hit in the face by a line drive from Carlos Gonzalez in the top of the second inning.

Bradley was eventually rolled over onto his back, and ultimately sat up and walked off the field under his own power.

He gave a thumbs up in response to a standing ovation from the crowd as he walked off the field.

The D-backs later said Bradley was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital for further testing, and never lost consciousness.

He reportedly returned to the stadium around the top of the ninth inning.

“That’s a tough kid, man,” said manager Chip Hale. He said Bradley is likely to be moved to the disabled list, though head trainer Ken Crenshaw said Bradley was given a “favorable” diagnosis.
