John McCain jokes he might’ve stayed up too late watching the D-backs game

Arizona Sen. John McCain had an important hearing Thursday morning, but after his line of questioning directed toward fired FBI Director James Comey raised eyebrows, he was forced to release a statement clarifying his goals.

Before getting into the nitty-gritty of the politics, McCain joked that one of his vices might have led to to the confusion.

“Maybe going forward I shouldn’t stay up late watching the Diamondbacks night games,” the noted D-backs fan said.

Indeed, the D-backs’ 7-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday went a little late.

It took three hours and 48 minutes and began at 6:40 p.m. Arizona time, meaning McCain might’ve been up at 1:28 a.m. on the East Coast had he watched the whole thing.

The Diamondbacks didn’t mind McCain’s continued support.
