D-backs catcher Mathis signs Justin Bour’s first career stolen base

On June 1, when the Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins squared off in Florida, something happened that had never happened before.
Marlins first baseman Justin Bour stole a base.
It happened in the bottom of the fourth inning, and the theft of second base marked the first time in Bour’s big league career he swiped a bag. It as also the first time he attempted to steal a base in the major leagues, therefore giving him a 100 percent success rate.
It was quite an accomplishment for the 6-foot-3, 265-pound first baseman, who celebrated by taking the base home with him. But that was not enough, as he wanted D-backs catcher Jeff Mathis — who failed to throw Bour out on the play — to sign it for him.

Mathis is in his first season with the D-backs after spending the previous four in Miami, so he and Bour know each other pretty well.
That’s what makes Mathis’ note OK. And also funny. Very, very funny.
