Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Yasmany Tomas will be back playing baseball next week on his way back from a groin injury, according to the man himself.

Tomas has been out since June 2 with right groin tendinitis. In his absence, the D-backs acquired right-handed bat J.D. Martinez on July 18, who has six home runs in 12 games since joining the club.

In his 47 games for the 2017 season, Tomas is hitting .241 with eight home runs and 32 RBI.

The 26-year-old Tomas was seen as a big disappointment after his 2015 rookie season. He signed a six-year, $68.5 million deal and hit .273 with nine home runs and 48 RBI.

He responded well in his second season the next year, putting up the power numbers that were expected of him.

While the batting average didn’t see much change, checking in at .272, he tripled his home run total to 31 and nearly doubled his RBI to 83.
