Arizona Diamondbacks’ outfielder Yasmany Tomas suffered a setback while rehabbing from a strained right groin and will see a specialist Monday in Philadelphia, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.

This setback is not the first Tomas has endured. The 26-year-old Tomas first landed on the 10-day disabled list with right-groin tendentious in June. But, after being pulled from his rehab assignment, Gilbert reported on July 4 that Tomas was dealing with a right groin strain.

Manager Torey Lovullo said it is too early to determine whether or not Tomas will need surgery, according to Gilbert.

Tomas was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on July 27. The La Habana, Cuba native has appeared in 47 games this season. In 166 at-bats, Tomas is hitting .241 with eight home runs, 32 RBI and a .758 OPS. Defensively, he has played all his games in left field and has yet to commit an error.

Partly due to Tomas’ injury, the Diamondbacks traded for outfielder J.D. Martinez from the Detroit Tigers before the trade deadline. Since Martinez arrived in Arizona, David Peralta has moved to left and Martinez has played right field.

Last season, Tomas hit .272 with 31 home runs and 83 RBI in 140 games and committed seven errors playing mostly in left.

The Diamondbacks originally signed Tomas as an amateur free agent on Dec. 9, 2014 for six years and $68.5 million. Tomas is owed a base salary of $6 million this season with a singing bonus of $3.5 million, for a total salary of $9.5 million, according to sportrac. Currently, he is signed through the 2020 season.
