Arizona Cardinals sign former Vikings and 49ers guard Alex Boone

The Arizona Cardinals reached an agreement with former Minnesota Vikings guard Alex Boone on Tuesday.
Boone started 14 games for Minnesota in his only season with the team and made two starts in the preseason before being cut Saturday. He was released after refusing to take a pay cut, according to the Star Tribune.
Heading into his 17th season, Boone’s played the majority of his years with the San Francisco 49ers, which included a trip to Super Bowl XLVII with now-Cardinals guard Mike Iupati.
He’s made 73 starts at guard and played in 91 total games.
With Iupati and John Wetzel being the only other guards on the roster, the Cardinals added more depth to their line. The signing comes after the Cardinals made mandatory cuts to bring their roster to 53, cutting five offensive linemen and signing 2017 fourth-round draft pick Dorian Johnson to the practice squad.
The Cardinals did not have to trim their roster to acquire Boone since they placed running back T.J. Logan on IR on Sunday and had an open roster spot available.
