Diamondbacks’ Kirk Gibson takes Ice Bucket Challenge, tweets for first time in months

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson’s Twitter profile says he joined the social media platform in September 2010, but the skipper isn’t known for posting very often.
Well, Tuesday was one of those rare days when he decided to send a tweet, and it was for a good reason and a good cause.
Gibson posted a video of himself taking the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise ALS awareness; if you’ve been on Twitter or Facebook lately, you’ve probably seen everybody and their mother pitching in for the cause.
For some reason, the manager is sitting on a toilet (with his pants on, hopefully) as he gets doused with cold water. He challenges several people — including Arizona Sports 98.7 FM‘s John Gambadoro, who has already done it twice — to do the same.
After splashed with water, Gibson stands up and shows a rare display of excitement — something we haven’t seen much from him this season.
The video was posted to YouTube on Tuesday, and the skipper decided it was good enough for just his fifth tweet ever, including the first since Opening Day this season.
