Cameraman 1, Tiger Woods’ tooth 0.
Woods, who is set to play in the WM Phoenix Open next week, had an unlucky encounter with a media member during a trip to Italy.
Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, said the 14-time major champion was in Italy to watch his girlfriend, Olympic gold-medalist Lindsey Vonn, compete in an alpine skiing competition Monday.
“During a crush of photographers at the awards’ podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged towards the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth,” Steinberg said in a statement. “Woods’s tooth was knocked out by the incident.” Woods covered the injury with a scarf after the accident but photos of his new smile eventually emerged.
Woods has a week to get his tooth replaced before heading to Arizona — and with an estimated net worth of $78.1 million, according to The Guardian, he should be able to afford the replacement.
