The Arizona Wildcats didn’t plan to fire Rich Rodriguez on Jan. 3 of this year.

Weeks after they added the first members of the 2018 high school class, the football program let go of its head coach, giving replacement Kevin Sumlin, who was hired Jan 14, the task of taking over recruiting duties in the middle of the cycle.

Arizona eventually pulled in the 61st-best class, according to 247 Sports, which ranked second-to-last in the Pac-12.

The Wildcats went 5-7 in Sumlin’s first year. Lows included blowouts to Houston, Utah and Washington State, plus painful losses to UCLA and rival ASU. The high, no doubt, came with Arizona’s 44-15 victory against then-No. 19 Oregon.

Can Sumlin make a splash or two in the 2019 recruiting class? Heading into Wednesday’s early signing period for the coach’s first full recruiting cycle at Arizona, the Wildcats have the 57th-ranked class with 17 hard commitments. That’s ninth-best in the Pac-12.

Check below for live updates of which recruits have signed their letters of intent with Arizona on Wednesday.
