The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled right-handed pitcher Jimmie Sherfy from Triple-A Reno on Monday.
The move puts the D-backs active roster at 32 players.
“Yesterday’s game impacted that decision,” manager Torey Lovullo said.
“We used a lot of guys. Just figured it’d be good to get as many guys here as possible so we don’t run into that situation again.”
Sherfy, 27, has had three stints for the big league club this season.
The 27-year-old has a 0.93 ERA to go along with 9 punchouts in 9.2 innings of work in five appearances on the 2019 campaign.
Over three seasons with the D-backs (2017-19), the right-hander also owns a career 0.98 ERA, 35 strikeouts and a .189 opponent batting average over 36.2 innings pitched.
In 35 outings for Triple-A Reno this season, Sherfy is 2-3 with 12 saves, a 3.60 ERA, 49 punchouts and a .241 opponent batting average over 35 innings tossed.
Sherfy is also the Aces’ all-time saves leader with 59 and trails only Joe Paterson’s 152 outings for all-time appearances for the team.
The D-backs host the San Diego Padres at 1:10 p.m. on Monday.
