The Arizona State Sun Devils are not only 2-0 on the season, they are 2-0 in winning the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week award.

Kicker Cristian Zendejas claimed the award for the Sun Devils by booting four field goals and a PAT in a 19-7 win over Sacramento State on Friday.

In Week 1, ASU punter Michael Turk won the Pac-12 weekly special teams award for setting an NCAA single-game record for average punt yards.

A redshirt sophomore, Zendejas filled in for junior Brandon Ruiz, who was out with a knee injury, connecting on all four of his field goal attempts.

He became the first Sun Devil to connect on four field goals in a game since current Arizona Cardinals kicker Zane Gonzalez accomplished the feat in 2016.

On Friday, Zendejas connected on attempts from 36, 26, 35 and 26 yards out. His season long was a 40-yarder against Kent State in Week 1.

Zendejas has been a perfect 7-for-7 on field goal attempts to start the season and has made all four of his PAT attempts.

He was also named one of the three Stars of the Week by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, which awards the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award annually to the nation’s most outstanding place kicker.

Freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels was again nominated for the Pac-12 weekly freshman award, but came up just short. Daniels won the award in Week 1 leading the Sun Devils to a 30-17 win over Kent State.
