ASU alum Jon Rahm knocks in ace, breaks course record in Mexico

Arizona State alum and PGA pro Jon Rahm had himself an afternoon on the golf course Saturday.
Rahm was absolutely feeling it in the third round of the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship at Club de Golf Chapultepec. The Spaniard went bonkers on Saturday, shooting a 10-under 61, setting a new course record.
Justin Thomas and Erik van Rooyen had previously shot 62 before Rahm’s outing.
His round started off with a bang, rolling in four straight birdies and six in the first seven holes.
All told, he dropped in nine birdies, a bogey and, oh yeah, probably the shot of the tournament.
Looking at 158 yards to the pin, Rahm went with a wedge as the wind blew near the green, not taking his eyes off the ball or the flag.
One-hopper-dropper.
“Let’s go!” Rahm said after the hole-in-one.
The late ace summed up the impressive round for Rahm, who finds himself in the hunt on Sunday.
He enters Round 4 tied for fourth (11-under) behind Thomas (15-under) and van Rooyen and Patrick Reed (14-under).
