Fields was being looked upon as not only one of the leaders for the Wildcat defense next season, but also as one of the team’s best players. Over three seasons, Fields registered 287 tackles, 8.5 sacks and two interceptions. Fields started all three years he played at Arizona and had at least 84 tackles each season.
He was starting to earn some buzz for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Shocked we haven’t heard more about @ArizonaFBall LB Tony Fields II. Great eyes & natural feel. Undersized based off listed measurables but he knows how to use hands & beat blocks. @T_Fields1 is one of most urgent, sudden, & productive LB in ‘21 draft. 👀#TheDraftStartsInMOBILE pic.twitter.com/RFWJYznPTO

In mid-May, safety Scottie Young Jr. also transferred to West Virginia after starting all 12 games for Arizona last season.
The Wildcats went 4-8 last season, making it two straight years for Kevin Sumlin to go under .500 in his start as the program’s head coach.
With non-conference games being eliminated in all fall sports by the Pac-12, Arizona will kick off its schedule on Sept. 12 against Stanford. The college football season, though, remains in doubt as the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the country.
