Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray fought off apparent discomfort in his throwing arm during a relatively low scoring first half against the Seattle Seahawks.

Murray completed 9-of-14 passes as Arizona trailed Seattle, 16-7, heading into intermission of the Thursday Night Football game.

Murray was sacked by defensive end Carlos Dunlap on Arizona’s second possession with 5:29 left in the first quarter. After a pre-snap penalty on the next play, Murray completed a 1-yard pass to Larry Fitzgerald on a screen pass before the Cardinals punted for the second time in two possessions.

Arizona’s quarterback went 1-for-3 for three yards before his injury.

Midway through the second quarter, FOX cameras caught Murray wincing on the sidelines as he continued to throw the ball to keep his arm and shoulder loose. Sideline reporter Kristina Pink said Cardinals trainers were applying a heat pad to his shoulder during each break in action for the quarterback.

Murray remained at least somewhat aggressive on the ground and at half scrambled three times for seven yards as Seattle succeeded in keeping the QB at bay.

Playing against the Seahawks has been a bugaboo for Murray and his health in his young career. In the penultimate game of 2019, his rookie year, Murray injured his hamstring and was replaced by backup Brett Hundley during the second half of an eventual 27-13 Arizona win.

Murray played the next week in a season finale. The Cardinals fell, 31-24, against the Los Angeles Rams as the quarterback was limited to operating in the pocket and only rushed two times for no yards.
