Kyler Murray couldn’t hide the slight irritation going through his right arm for most of the Arizona Cardinals’ 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

After taking a hit in the first quarter, Murray called over the trainers on the sidelines before warming his arm back up with some tosses, grimacing a few times through them.

Murray stayed in and played the rest of the game, with the Thursday Night Football FOX crew noting that Murray was having heat pads applied to his right shoulder after each drive.

“He banged it during that first drive,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “I don’t know the extent of the injury but I thought he toughed it out, continued to compete and gave us a chance at the end.”

Murray was asked if the arm affected his play at all.

“Nah,” he said. “Just came up short. Didn’t execute when we needed to. Had our chances. We just didn’t play well enough.”

After a slow first half throwing the ball, Murray found a rhythm in the second half, completing 20 of his 28 attempts for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

He finished with 269 passing yards on 29-of-42 passing for two touchdowns and no interceptions.

What didn’t get going was his ability to run the ball, the part of Murray’s game that has made him one of the NFL’s true difference-makers this season. He carried the ball five times for 15 yards.

Kingsbury credited Seattle’s defensive approach forcing Murray to hand the ball off on read options while Murray pointed more toward the flow of the game.

Did it also have to do with the shoulder?

“Nah. I’m good,” he said.
