The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed veteran southpaw Ryan Buchter to a minor league contract, according to a report from USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.
The relief pitcher will reportedly earn $925,000 if he makes the team’s big league roster after Spring Training.
Buchter, who was drafted by the Nationals in 2005, has built a solid career since debuting with the Atlanta Braves in 2014. The lefty boasts a career 2.90 ERA across 220 innings with a 9.9 K/9 rate.
He spent the 2020 season with the Los Angeles Angels, where he pitched six total innings before being designated for assignment.
He signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees in September, but was never called up.
If Buchter makes the big league roster, the D-backs will be his sixth major league team.
