Incoming University of Arizona basketball recruit Allonzo Trier has accepted an invitation to take part in the 2015 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team training camp from June 12-26 held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
As a member of the 24-player training camp, Trier will compete to be selected to the team’s 12-man roster.
Trier will also get a chance to familiarize himself with his future head coach, as Arizona’s Sean Miller will lead Team USA in their quest to defend their 2013 U19 World Championship gold medal June 27-July 5 in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.
It won’t be the first time Trier represents his country in international play. Before playing for Team USA at the 2015 Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Oregon this past April, Trier also helped the USA qualify for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship. During the tournament, Trier started all five games, averaging 12.6 points per game in addition to shooting 62.1 percent from the field, helping lead Team USA to a spotless 5-0 record.
In his final year as a prepster, Trier averaged 26.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for Findlay Prep, leading his squad to a semifinal appearance at the Dick’s Sporting Good High School Nationals.
Training camp for the 2015 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Championship Team begins in earnest June 13, with finalists being announced on June 15.
