Arizona Diamondbacks rally past Dodgers for a win: By the Numbers

...

Things didn’t look good for the Arizona Diamondbacks early on Monday night.

Starter Allen Webster had a rough outing in his fourth start of the season. The right-hander couldn’t find the strike zone early and lasted just 3.2 innings. Meanwhile, Arizona’s offense couldn’t get anything going against Los Angeles starter (and former D–back) Mike Bolsinger.

They sure figured things out in the fifth. Bolsinger left the game with flu-like symptoms and the D-backs rallied against the Dodgers’ bullpen for a 10-6 win.

Nick Ahmed and Yasmany Tomas each hit two-run home runs and nine different Arizona hitters scored at least one run.

Two seemed to be the magic number for the D-backs as they clawed their way back into the game. Arizona got two runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. They multiplied that two by two in the eighth, putting up a four-spot to provide the winning margin.

Paul Goldschmidt had single in the sixth inning, to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. For good measure (and typical Goldschmidt fashion), he added a two-run single in the eighth inning to cap the scoring.

Before Monday, the D-backs had lost seven straight to the Dodgers.

.292

Shortstop Nick Ahmed had two more hits Monday, including the two-run homer to open the scoring for the D-backs in the fifth.

Since seeing his batting average fall to a woeful .120 on May 11, Ahmed is hitting .293 (39-for-133) with five home runs and 17 RBI.
