Former Arizona State Sun Devil Alonzo Verge Jr. has committed to Nebraska for the upcoming season, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Rothstein added Verge withdrew his name from the 2021 NBA Draft on Wednesday. He had entered the transfer portal in May and will now embark on his fifth college season as a grad transfer.

“It just felt like home,” said Verge told Rothstein. “It felt genuine. I feel like I can learn a lot from the coaching staff.”

Verge spent two seasons with the Sun Devils, taking home the Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year by averaging 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in 2019-20.

Last year, Verge started 21 of the 23 games he played. His 3-point percentage (33.3%), rebounds (3.9) and assists (3.8) per outing marked career highs at ASU, but his overall shooting percentage (39.1%) and his points per game (14) took a hit in 2020.

The news of Verge’s commitment comes after forward Marcus Bagley announced his plans to return to ASU after withdrawing his name from the draft on Wednesday.

Senior guard Remy Martin announced Tuesday he would also be withdrawing his name from the draft and will play for the Kansas Jayhawks in 2021.

Other transfers from last year’s squad include guard Jaelen House (New Mexico), forward Taeshon Cherry (GCU), guard Holland Woods (GCU) and power forward/center Chris Osten (NIU).

Guard Josh Christopher is exploring his professional opportunities.
