Cardinals announce cuts, trim roster to 53

The Arizona Cardinals had until 6 p.m. Friday to trim their roster to 53 players, and they did so by releasing the following 18 players:
Cornerback CREZDON BUTLER
Linebacker ANTONIO COLEMAN
Safety BLAKE GIDEON
Linebacker CLARK HAGGANS
Guard RUSS HOCHSTEIN
Defensive tackle RICKY LUMPKIN
Linebacker COLIN PARKER
Cornerback LARRY PARKER
Wide receiver DEMARCO SAMPSON
Tight end STEVE SKELTON
Running back ALFONSO SMITH
Linebacker QUAN STURDIVANT
Defensive end RONALD TALLEY
Defensive end EVERRETTE THOMPSON
Tight end MARTELL WEBB
Center SCOTT WEDIGE
Wide receiver ISAIAH WILLIAMS
Tackle D.J. YOUNG
The Cardinals also announced they have placed quarterback Richard Bartel and running back Javarris James on injured reserve, and they have waived-injured linebacker Brandon Williams and receiver Stephen Williams.
