Who ASU won’t have in Las Vegas Bowl vs. Wisconsin

Arizona State Sun Devils will be without key players on both offense and defense when they play Wisconsin in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 30.
Running backs Rachaad White and DeaMonte Trayanum, cornerbacks Chase Lucas and Jack Jones, plus offensive lineman Dohnovan West are all out for various reasons for the Sun Devils.
White has decided to sit out the game and prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft, while Trayanum entered the transfer portal. Redshirt freshman Daniyel Ngata will see more time after recording 286 rushing yards and three touchdowns with ASU this season.
White accounted for 30.5% of ASU’s total yards of offense this year and 35.6% of the team’s total touchdowns.
“We anticipated that, I anticipated that,” head coach Herm Edwards said to the media. “We had talked before when the season had ended that this could happen and some young guys are going to play now. No different than our last game of the season, we had a bunch of young guys in there. So, that’s kinda a good thing.”

The offense will also be without West after he had surgery on his thumb. The junior was named to the All Pac-12 Second Team.
Defensively, the team will be without starters in Jones and Lucas as they both prepare for the NFL Draft.
“Chase and I had a good talk and I said, ‘Look, I’ve been here for four years and you’ve really helped this program tremendously and I just appreciate what you’ve done for this program and how you’ve helped us all.’ So, it’s all good,” Edwards said.
Lucas is currently one game behind the record for most starts in ASU history at 49. Defensive lineman Dexter Davis holds the mark of 50 games from 2006-09.
