The Arizona Diamondbacks fired manager Kirk Gibson on Friday as the team sits with the worst record in MLB.

Arizona (63-96) started slowly, going 0-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Sydney, Australia, and never recovered. Gibson was on the hot seat almost immediately after losing seven of eight games to begin the season.

Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field was Gibson’s final game as D-backs skipper.

Here’s a look at Gibson’s five-season tenure with the D-backs, by the numbers:

3

Number of games remaining in the season. Arizona plays a three-game series at home against the St. Louis Cardinals to close out the 2014 season. Bench coach Alan Trammell will manage the team for those three games before he joins Gibson on the unemployment line.

.485

Gibson’s winning percentage as D-backs manager. The 57-year-old finished with a record of 353-375 since taking over for A.J. Hinch during the 2010 season.

365

Number of days since the last time the D-backs had a winning record. Arizona had a record of 80-79 on Sept. 26, 2013 and have not been above .500 since.

728

No D-backs skipper managed more games with the team than Gibson’s 728.

1

Number of full seasons above .500 for Arizona in Gibson’s tenure. The only year the D-backs had a winning record was in 2011 (94-68). They eventually lost in the NLDS to the Milwaukee Brewers in five games.

2011

The year Gibson took home the NL Manager of the Year Award after the D-backs won the NL West.

3

The last three D-backs managers were fired during the season. Bob Melvin in 2009, Hinch in 2010 and Gibson in 2014.
