The Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team received a new commitment from a graduate transfer on Thursday.

Former Campbell University wing Cedric Henderson Jr. announced via Instagram that he will be playing the 2022-23 season in Tucson.

“Let’s get right Arizona men’s basketball, I just want to thank everyone that got me to this position,” Henderson said in his post. “It is a blessing and I can not wait to see what is next for me. Let’s go wildcats!!!”

Henderson is coming off of a 2021-22 campaign in which he was an All-Big South Conference honorable mention after averaging 14 points per game on 49.8% shooting and 38% from three-point range.

He also paced 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals across 33.8 minutes per contest last season.

The 6-foot-6 wing was named to the all-conference’s second team in 2020-21 thanks to his team-leading 15 points per game on a Big South-best 50.3% field goal percentage. He also ranked fifth in the conference at the free throw line (75.7%) and in blocks (1.1).

Henderson will give head coach Tommy Lloyd and Co. some depth after losing key starters in guards Bennedict Mathurin and Dalen Terry, as well as center Christian Koloko. The trio has declared for the 2022 NBA Draft on June 23.

Lloyd’s contract extension through the 2026-27 season — which sees his new annual salary jump to $4 million, the second-most in the Pac-12 Conference — was approved by the Arizona Board of Regents on Thursday.
