Arizona State product D.J. Foster recorded a 4.57 official 40-yard dash time at his NFL Draft Combine performance on Saturday, a number that ranked 23rd among the receivers present.

More impressively, Foster ranked first in the 20-yard shuttle, tying Ohio State’s Braxton Miller with a time of 4.07 seconds. He was fourth with a 11.12-second run in the 60-yard shuttle, and fifth in the three-cone drill with a time of 6.75.

The hybrid running back and wide receiver, who played both positions in his four seasons at ASU, also stood out in the gauntlet receiving drill.

That should bode well for him selling himself no matter if he comes out of the backfield or lines up in the slot.

Foster bench pressed 14 times, good for a 14th-place tie among wideouts, and was tied for 11th with a vertical jump of 35.5. Additionally, he broadjumped 117 inches.

A day prior, Foster measured out at 5-foot-10 and 193 pounds with 30.5-inch arms.

According to NFLDraftScout.com, Foster is projected to go in the sixth or seventh round of the draft as a running back, but it appears Foster’s performance should only help his cause as a more versatile player.
