LISTEN: Dave Stewart, Diamondbacks general manager

Arizona Diamondbacks General Manager Dave Stewart joined B-Train on Off The Edge on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM on Thursday morning before the Diamondbacks defeated the Houston Astros to discuss some of the key story lines regarding the Diamondbacks.

B-Train began his interview by asking Stewart how frustrated he is on a scale of one-to-10 with the way the Diamondbacks have been playing so far.

“I don’t know that ‘frustration’ would be the word I would use right now,” Stewart said. “I would probably use the word ‘disappointed’. I’m really, really disappointed in the way we are playing.”

Stewart continued, “our starting rotation is among the bottom in the National League and probably in all of Major League Baseball… We’re not pitching, we’re not executing with runners in scoring position, and so it’s more ‘disappointment’ than ‘frustration’.”

Despite Stewart’s disappointment in the performance of his club, he still believes in his manager, Chip Hale and the organization hasn’t even talked about firing him.

“The players still believe in him, the players still trust him, and he still has control of the clubhouse. Those are the things that are important when you have your manager,” Stewart said. “In all the areas where you want your manager to have control, he does have control. The things we want from Chip, we are still seeing in our clubhouse. The results just aren’t good.”
