Oregon dangerous with or without James

He may play.

He may not play.

Either way, it may not matter.

“They do what they do and they’ve got depth to do it,”
said head coach Arizona State Dennis Erickson, “so you
don’t treat it any different whether (LaMichael James)
plays or whether he doesn’t.”

Erickson also joined “Burns and Gambo” on Arizona Sports
620 Tuesday, and the coach suggested that his team may see
James on the field at Autzen Stadium on Saturday night.

“Nobody’s told me he’s not playing,” he said.

James, who Monday was named PAC-12 Offensive
Player of the Week (for the second time this season), is
considered doubtful for Saturday’s anticipated match-up
between 18th-ranked ASU and 9th-ranked Oregon at Autzen
Stadium. The Ducks leading rusher and Heisman Trophy
candidate suffered an elbow injury in last week’s 43-15
win over Cal.

“He’s a great player. He might be one of the best players
in the country,” continued Erickson about James. “But in
saying that, they have got so much depth. You take
(Kenjan) Barner, you take De’Anthony Thomas—who we tried
to recruit, and they’re something special.”
