For anyone who is worried about the Arizona Wildcats struggling to replace the likes of Derrick Williams and MoMo Jones, it would appear the concern is unfounded.
Sure, they’ll miss Williams, who is likely a top-two pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. As well, the transfer of Jones came as a bit of a surprise. However, according to ESPN, help is on the way in the form of the seventh-best recruiting class in the nation.
The scary part for Pac-10 fans is that Sean Miller is just getting started. We believe he has a future all-league backcourt signed for the Wildcats. Josiah Turner (Sacramento, Calif./Quality Education) and Nick Johnson (Gilbert, Ariz./Findlay Prep) are the real deal and have the talent to bring back the glory days. Miller is attacking the Pac-10 recruiting scene like he’s lived out West his entire life — only he hasn’t, since he’s a Pittsburgh guy.
Arizona’s class of four ESPNU top 100 players also includes forward Sidiki Johnson, who the report says can score from the high and low post, and Angelo Chol, a shot-blocking and rebounding big man.
What is it about the best programs, that they don’t so much rebuild as they do reload? It appears that is the approach the Arizona Wildcats are taking these days.
