Arizona’s newest player could recruit more top talent

It’s like a domino effect, really.

When one top recruit signs with Sean Miller and the Arizona Wildcats, more seem to follow. After all, the more good players around the more success the team will have, and the UA is poised to be very successful in the near future.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, the signing of comb-guard Gabe York, ranked No. 33 nationally by ESPN.com as part of the Cats’ 2012 class, could lead to them landing one of the group’s top forwards as well.

Even before he committed to play for the Arizona Wildcats, Gabe York texted his friend, who happens to be a top-10 recruit for the 2012 class.

“I’ve already started talking to Brandon Ashley,” he said.

After committing to the UA, York has the time to begin recruiting others – including the uncommitted Northern California power forward Ashley.

Arizona is working hard to land Ashley, and it would seem like they have a good shot at bringing him to Tucson. York, who was impressed with Arizona’s basketball facilities, said his conversations with Ashley are not about trying to bring him to Tucson.

“I’m not really putting pressure on him like that,” York said. “I texted him before I committed, because me and him are really tight.”
