Cardinals coach Whisenhunt excited for home game

For some there is nothing sweeter than playing in front of a home crowd.
The Cardinals will get that chance Saturday night in their home preseason debut against the San Diego Chargers.
One person who is happy to be back at home is head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
“I’m excited to get back to University of Phoenix Stadium,” Whisenhunt said. “I understand that it’s just a preseason game, but it’s a great environment.”
For some, like new quarterback Kevin Kolb, it will be the first time playing in the stadium. Whisenhunt believes it’s important for everyone to get a taste of what it’s like playing in front of thousands of Cardinals fans.
“We need it [playing in the stadium],” Whisenhunt said. “We have a lot of guys that have never stepped foot in there and that’s coaches too.”
With the regular season approaching Whisenhunt believes the home game is just what the Cardinals need to gain excitement for the regular season.
“It’s a great opportunity to kick-start it,” he said. “We are only two and a half weeks away from playing there for real.”
