Texans star J.J. Watt surprises his fourth-grade teacher for her retirement

Apr 5, 2017, 8:45 AM

Most of us remember a teacher from our childhood that made a lasting impression.

Houston Texans’ star defensive end J.J. Watt certainly does.

Watt’s fourth-grade teacher, Judy Keefe, is retiring this year after 41 years of shaping young minds, so he went out of his way to say “thanks.”

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year headed back to his elementary school in Wisconsin with a cake and a surprise for Keefe and her husband. He’s flying them both to Houston for Watt’s Charity Classic Softball Game.

This is a touching tribute to a woman who encouraged a young Watt to pursue his dreams of playing for the University of Wisconsin and in the NFL. Football is a better sport with players and people like J.J. Watt in it, and Judy Keefe deserves her slice of credit (and retirement cake!)

Well done, J.J!
