There is a new tradition at the end of the first quarter during Iowa football games at Kinnick Stadium.
The new University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital opened earlier this year with some of the windows overlooking the stadium.
A suggestion that fans begin waving to patients at the end of the first quarter went viral, and the team ended up adopting the idea.
The university said in a release it will promote its Touchdowns for Kids program in which fans can pledge to donate a dollar or more for every Iowa touchdown this season.
