It’s clear that Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid’s game has matured over the past few years, made evident by finally became an All-Star this season, but it appears Embiid has matured emotionally as well.
Back in 2014, Embiid asked out famous singer Rihanna. However, things didn’t go as planned for Embiid.

Fast forward to 2018 where Embiid is averaging 23.9 points a game, shooting 48.7 percent and was selected as a starter for this season’s All-Star Game.
Now Embiid has joined the status of NBA superstars such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, James Harden and Kevin Durant.
A few years ago Embiid would have jumped on the opportunity to date his celebrity crush, but as he was healing his foot, knee and back, he was also healing his heart.
Embiid had a surprising response when asked by a reporter about the embarrassing rejection years ago.
WOWWW@KristenLedlow asked Embiid about the tweet from 2014 when he asked out @rihanna and she told him to come back when he makes all-star team.

“Well she rejected me back then,” Embiid said. “So why go with her again?
“I have to pass that and move onto the next one.”
Sorry Rihanna, looks like you missed out. I guess that’s what happens to people who don’t “Trust the process.”
