Bucs running back Doug Martin has game officiated by former principal

Call it the rarest of reunions between a former student and his principal.
As Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was jogging out to pre-game warmup’s before his Week 1 matchup with the Carolina Panthers Sunday, the 25-year-old noticed a blast from his past.
None other than his former principal at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, Calif., Pete Morelli.
Morelli just so happens to moonlight as an NFL referee — a job he’s held for more than a decade.
The pair whiffed on a handshake attempt, so they elected to go right for the bear hug.
