Flopping has been a problem for years in the National Basketball Association.
The league is attempting to do something about it.
P.J. Hairston of the Charlotte Hornets took the flopping to a new level Wednesday night, pulling off an acting job so bad it should have been nominated for a Razzie.
In the fourth quarter of a game against the San Antonio Spurs, Hairston launched himself off the court in hopes of drawing a foul on Tony Parker.
It didn’t work. As Hairston flopped 20 feet across the floor, coming to a stop at the feet of San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich, Parker found Danny Green wide open for a right-wing three-pointer.
After they stopped laughing, the higher-ups in the league office fined Hairston $5,000 Thursday.
