While many of his teammates were likely still out celebrating following their AFC Championship game victory, New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork took a detour to assist a woman who was trapped in an overturned SUV.
Massachusetts State Police reported state troopers responded to a report of a rollover crash in Foxboro, Massachusetts early Monday morning. Upon arrival, they found Wilfork assisting the vehicle’s driver, 38-year-old Mary Ellen Brooks, out of her 2015 Jeep Wrangler that was tipped on its side.
Trooper Kenneth Proulx stated that he held the drivers door of the vehicle open, and Vince Wilfork reached in and helped lift the operator out of the vehicle with one hand.
Wilfork didn’t leave until troopers assured him they had the situation under control. Brooks was arrested on suspicion of DUI and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
The 33-year-old Wilfork is a five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl XXXIX champion with New England. On Sunday, he helped guide the Patriots to an appearance in Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale next month with a 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
