The Arizona Diamondbacks have issued several recalls to bring the active roster up to 31 players.
Pitchers Silvino Bracho, Matt Koch and Jimmie Sherfy along with infielder/outfielder Chris Owings, outfielder Socrates Brito and catcher Chris Stewart were recalled to the big league roster.
All of the players besides Chris Stewart have made appearances with the D-backs this season.
The addition of Bracho, Koch and Sherfy should provide some added bullets to the disposal of manager Torey Lovullo, whose bullpen has been credited with three of the teams last six losses.
Owings and Brito add some extra pop off the bench for the D-backs as the two have combined for 80 RBI in 199 plate appearances for the triple-A Reno Aces.
Stewart will be the fourth catcher on the roster for the D-backs and will try to squeeze in playing time alongside Jeff Mathis, Alex Avila and John Ryan Murphy. He was acquired from the Atlanta Braves on Thursday in a waiver deal and sports a caught stealing percentage of 26.1.
The D-backs take on the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at 6:10 p.m. and can be heard on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
