The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday they signed defensive end Ufomba Kamalu to the practice squad and released defensive end Alec James from the practice squad.

The move comes a day after the team swapped out two other players at the defensive end position, claiming Ifeadi Odenigbo off waivers and releasing Jacquies Smith.

Kamalu, 25, went to the University of Miami but was undrafted out of college in 2016. He landed with the Houston Texans, where he’s spent his last three seasons and played a total of 13 games in that span, starting three.

The Texans released Kamalu following the preseason back on Sept. 2.

Kamalu’s most productive season was last year in 2017, when he started two games and appeared in nine total. He recorded two sacks and six tackles. He has three sacks and 11 tackles for his career.

James, 23, signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent back in April. He was released on Sept. 1 but re-signed to the practice squad the next day.
