Cardinals president Michael Bidwill will receive the Paul J. Tagliabue Award given yearly to the NFL executive who provides career development opportunities for minority candidates and advocates for diversity around the league or team.

Bidwill will be presented the award by the Fritz Pollard Alliance and former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue on Thursday in Atlanta.

“The Bidwill family has always done the right thing on issues of equality, from the days when Adele Harris was PR and community relations director back in St. Louis to the current day,” Fritz Pollard Alliance chairman John Wooten said in a statement. “Michael’s leadership has been a critical component in carrying the Cardinals legacy of equal opportunity forward.”

The Fritz Pollard Alliance, created in 2003, aims to promote diversity and equality in the coaching and front office staffs across the NFL.

It has worked with the league to develop guidelines for hiring talent.

The alliance has honored several Cardinals for other awards in the past. Bidwill’s father, Bill, won the Paul “Tank” Younger Award in 2010 before then-general manager Rod Graves earned the honor in 2011. Scout Malik Boyd (NFC Scout of the Year, 2014) and coach Bruce Arians (Game Ball Award, 2016) were honored by the Fritz Pollard Alliance as well.
