After a recent stretch that saw Patrick Peterson receive a six-game suspension for violation of the NFL’s performance enhancing drug policy and subsequently not show up for much of voluntary OTAs, the Arizona Cardinals cornerback was back at work on Monday.

At the start of the third week of organized team activities, Peterson was on the field for the first time this offseason.

The All-Pro corner won’t be eligible to play for his team until Week 7 at the New York Giants, but in the meantime, he can participate in offseason practices as well as preseason practices and games. He rejoins his teammates, led by new head coach Kliff Kingsbury and new defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

Peterson also reunites with a defensive backs group that includes this year’s second-round pick, Byron Murphy, learning the ropes of the NFL for the first time.

The 28-year-old has never missed a game in his career up to this point, starting 16 games every year from 2011 through 2018. The three-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl selection has 23 interceptions in 128 career games, and last season registered two picks, five passes defensed, a fumble recovery, a sack and 54 tackles.

In Peterson’s absence, veteran Robert Alford and Murphy figure to to be candidates to earn the starting corner jobs, with David Amerson and Tramaine Brock also in the mix.
