The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have signed first-round selections Corbin Carroll and Blake Walston on Wednesday.

Selected with the No. 16 overall pick was the outfielder Corbin Carroll from Lakeside School in Washington.

It was reported by MLB.com’s Jim Callis that Carroll signed for the full pick value of $3.7 million.

Carroll, 18, was rated by Baseball America as the best defensive outfielder and second-best hitter among 2019 draft prospects.

In 23 games at Lakeside School, he hit .540 with an OPS of 1.869, including nine home runs and 11 stolen bases.

He was also named Most Valuable Player of the 2018 Perfect Game All-American Classic at Petco Park and Washington’s Gatorade State Player of the Year for 2018-19 for his season played at Lakeside.

Arizona drafted left-hand pitcher Walston from New Hanover High School in North Carolina at No. 26 overall.

Callis also reported that the D-backs signed Walston for $2.6 million, around $200k less than the value of the pick.

Walston, 17, in three seasons with New Hanover, went 34-2 with a 0.89 ERA (227.0 innings) and 355 strikeouts in 36 starts.

Much like Carroll, Walston also won 2019 Gatorade State Player of the Year in his home state of North Carolina. He went 12-0 with a 0.20 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 12 starts.

So far, the D-backs have signed 21 of their 45 selections from the 2019 First-Year Player Draft.

Among those picks are two first-round compensation picks Arizona received after starter Patrick Corbin and outfielder A.J. Pollock signed with other teams in the offseason.

That landed the D-backs with the No. 33 and No. 34 overall pick in the MLB Draft.

At No. 33 the D-backs selected right-hand pitcher Brennan Malone out of IMG Academy in Flordia.

Callis reports that Malone signed for the full slot value of $2.2 million.

Malone, 18, put up a 0.27 ERA with 69 strikeouts in 51.0 innings pitched his senior year.

Selected at No. 34 was right-hand pitcher Drey Jameson, 21, from Ball State University.

He reportedly signed for $1.4 million, well under the value of the pick due to issues during a physical, according to Callis.

In his sophomore season year at Ball State, Malone finished with an ERA of 3.24 and 146 strikeouts allowing only six home runs in 91.2 innings pitched.

Two notable picks that have not signed yet is No. 74 overall selection Tommy Henry out of Michigan and No. 75 overall pick Dominic Fletcher out of Arkansas.

On Monday, Henry threw a three-hit shutout against Flordia State in the College World Series.
