The Arizona Cardinals may welcome a familiar face to their ranks in the next few days.
According to Chris Hamblin, the Cardinals extended an offer to former offensive coordinator Todd Haley, though the spot offered is unclear.
Under Haley’s offense, the Cards produced one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, tying for third place in their 2008 Superbowl run. In that same season, the Cardinals posted a franchise-high 427 total points and were fourth in the NFL in overall offense, aided by their second-ranked passing offense.
After the Superbowl run, Haley was offered the head coaching position at the Kansas City Chiefs, where he posted an overall record of 19-26 and led the Chiefs to one playoff appearance.
The Jets are also rumored to be interested in Haley, said Hamblin. New York is believed to be considering him as an offensive coordinator or, possibly, a head coach.
Haley’s name was also floated around during the Arizona State head coach search, though no offer was made.
